Managing Director, Public Accounting Practice

The Company is seeking a Managing Director to lead the operations and growth of a public accounting practice. Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, coaching and developing accounting and tax staff, and coordinating staffing, project timelines, and client engagements. The role also involves reviewing tax filings across a range of entity types, providing technical guidance on complex tax matters, and serving as a strategic advisor to clients. The Managing Director will oversee budgeting, invoicing, collections, and profitability, monitor performance metrics, and lead process and technology improvements. Candidates must hold a Certified Public Accountant designation and have at least five years of public accounting experience. They should bring a record of leading teams and managing business operations in a services environment, along with strong experience reviewing complex tax returns. Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements is required. The role also calls for strong client relationship and advisory skills, plus the ability to assess workflows and implement effective process and technology improvements.
