Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Company seeks a values-driven, entrepreneurial Chief Executive Officer to lead its next strategic chapter and serve as its primary external representative. The CEO will guide strategic planning, cultivate major donors and institutional funders, and diversify revenue sources. The role also includes growing audience reach, strengthening financial and administrative systems, and developing the senior team through hiring, mentorship, and succession planning. In partnership with the Executive Editor, the CEO will help shape editorial strategy while preserving the separation between editorial and business operations and protecting the organization’s credibility. Candidates should bring significant management experience in online publishing, nonprofits, or a similarly complex organization, along with a record of cultivating major gifts and building relationships with funders and external stakeholders. The role calls for values-driven leadership, fiscal acumen, and board experience, as well as strong alignment with the organization’s mission. Experience in data analytics, marketing, audience growth, and the online journalism marketplace is important; nonprofit news experience is an advantage.
