Interim Head of Governance

The Company is seeking a Head of Governance to join their team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing senior-level governance expertise, ensuring the organization operates within a robust and effective governance framework, and maintaining strong standards of governance, accountability, and regulatory compliance. This role involves working closely with the Board, its Committees, and the Leadership Team, overseeing the operational governance framework, and managing the annual cycle of governance activities. The Head of Governance will also be instrumental in developing and maintaining strong relationships with Board and Committee members, as well as providing clear, practical advice on governance matters to senior stakeholders. Applicants for the Head of Governance position at the company should be experienced governance professionals with a background in governance, company secretarial, legal, policy, or a related professional environment. The role requires the ability to interpret complex policy and legal requirements and communicate them effectively, as well as strong organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills. A degree-level education or equivalent professional experience is essential, and a full UK driving license is required. Desirable qualifications include experience in the housing or wider not-for-profit sector, and professional qualifications such as a Solicitor or Chartered Governance Professional/Company Secretary. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing demanding stakeholders, and be proactive, flexible, and able to work independently.
