Vice President, Controller Greater New York City, NY Area

The Company is in search of a strategic and technically proficient Controller to lead its accounting operations in a dynamic, growth-oriented private lending environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial reporting, compliance, loan portfolio accounting, and treasury management. This role demands a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of GAAP principles, advanced Excel skills, and a proven track record in managing and developing large teams. The Controller will work closely with the Finance Manager, ensuring alignment between financial reporting and FP&A analysis, and will be a key partner to operational leaders. The ideal candidate will be adept at multitasking, prioritizing, and managing competing deadlines, and will be passionate about leveraging technology to drive efficiency and scalability. Applicants for the Controller position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with 8-10 years' of progressive accounting experience, including at least 4-5 years' in a Controller or Assistant Controller role. Proficiency in NetSuite is required, and experience in mortgage banking, private lending, or real estate finance is strongly preferred. The role also requires a strong background in financial statement preparation, audit management, and internal controls, as well as a proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing team. The Controller will be expected to champion technology-driven solutions, identify and implement process improvements, and drive cost control through better systems and operational discipline. A CPA is a plus, and the candidate should be familiar with lending compliance and regulatory requirements.
