Fractional General Counsel Greater San Francisco, CA Area

The Company is seeking a Fractional General Counsel to build and coordinate its legal function as it grows internationally. The role will own legal priorities and operations, coordinate internal teams and external counsel, manage legal matters and budgets, and establish scalable processes and approval workflows. Responsibilities span corporate governance, equity and financing matters, commercial contracts, employment issues, privacy, compliance, and disputes. The General Counsel will identify material risks and translate legal advice into practical business decisions while working closely with senior leadership. Candidates should have at least eight years of relevant legal experience, ideally combining law firm and in-house work, and experience advising venture-backed, high-growth technology companies. Strong knowledge of corporate governance and commercial agreements is required, along with working familiarity with employment, privacy, compliance, and litigation management. Applicants should be skilled at coordinating multiple counsel and workstreams, exercising sound independent judgment, and communicating effectively with founders and senior leaders. A practical, commercially minded approach, strong organization, and experience building legal processes are important; experience in consumer technology, hardware, AI, or international operations is an advantage.
