Head of Design, Custom Homes

The Company is in search of a Head of Design for Custom Homes. This key leadership role involves leading and mentoring a design team, managing the design process from concept to construction documentation, and ensuring the delivery of high-end residential designs that are both visually appealing and practical to construct. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing designs, renderings, and presentations, as well as collaborating closely with clients, builders, architects, and trade partners. A strong background in high-end residential design, custom homes, or major renovations is essential, along with experience in leading, managing, or mentoring designers. Applicants for the Head of Design position at the company should have a minimum of 5 years' experience in high-end residential design, custom homes, or major renovations, and at least 2 years in a leadership or mentoring role. Advanced proficiency in design software, particularly Chief Architect, and a working knowledge of construction management software are required. The role demands a strong understanding of cabinetry, millwork, finish carpentry, and construction sequencing, as well as a proven ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail. The Head of Design will also be expected to have a portfolio that demonstrates high-end residential work and technical documentation, and to provide a consultative design experience to clients.
