Assistant Vice President, Java & Microservices Development Greater Tampa, FL Area

The Company is seeking an AVP for Java and Microservices Development to take on a pivotal role in the design and construction of high-throughput, low-latency backend systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical leadership in the development of mission-critical platforms that support real-time financial transactions on a global scale. This includes driving the implementation of cloud-native Java microservices, event-driven streaming and messaging architectures, and modern AI-accelerated engineering practices. The role demands a deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, and a range of modern software development and deployment technologies. The AVP will also be expected to partner with cross-functional teams to ensure the delivery of robust, production-ready solutions that meet complex business and regulatory requirements. Applicants must have a hands-on Java software engineering experience of at least 8 years, with a strong proficiency in Java 17/21, concurrency, and advanced JVM performance tuning. A proven track record in designing and operating production-grade microservices, as well as expertise in event streaming and messaging architectures, is essential. The role requires practical mastery of various microservices architecture patterns and experience in integrating AI-assisted developer tools into team workflows. The ideal candidate will be proficient in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes, and have a solid background in Agile delivery methodologies. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are a must, along with the ability to influence technical and business leadership. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a Master's degree being preferred.
