Chief Compliance & Legal Officer

The Company is seeking a Chief Compliance and Legal Officer to lead its compliance and legal functions, keep operations aligned with regulatory requirements, and support practical business execution. The role includes overseeing the compliance program, providing legal and regulatory guidance, managing outside counsel and legal spending, and leading regulatory, licensing, and examination activities. The officer will strengthen policies, monitoring, training, and controls while partnering with executive leadership. They will also translate the organization’s business and risk context into clear guidance and effective compliance processes. Candidates must hold a Juris Doctor degree and an active bar license, with significant legal and compliance leadership experience in consumer finance or another heavily regulated financial services environment. They should have a strong working knowledge of consumer financial laws and regulations, along with a record of leading legal and compliance functions and building or improving compliance processes, controls, or teams. The role requires sound business judgment, experience managing outside counsel and legal budgets, and strong communication skills to explain complex issues clearly to non-lawyers. Strong leadership, prioritization, and change management abilities are also essential.
