Executive Director, Technology

The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Technology to take on a pivotal leadership role. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and growing the technology team across engineering, delivery, and operations. This includes setting the standard, making critical decisions, and being the primary point of contact for the business regarding technology delivery. The role is hands-on, with the expectation that the Executive Director will be actively involved in the codebase and shipping code on a regular basis. The Executive Director will also be tasked with shaping the technical strategy, turning product direction into tangible work, and ensuring the team is aligned with the company's goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, including experience with the company's tech stack, and a proven track record of leadership beyond engineering. They should be adept at managing the people side of the business, from hiring to performance management, and be capable of running the technology function with a focus on delivery, operations, and vendor relationships. A background in media or publishing is a plus, and the candidate should be comfortable being the technical voice in a room of editorial and commercial leaders. The role requires a leader who is a builder, with a deep understanding of backend and infrastructure, and the ability to direct contractors and vendors to meet the company's standards.
