General Counsel

The Company is seeking a General Counsel to lead its legal function and serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team. The successful candidate will be responsible for aligning regulatory requirements, industry accreditation, operational quality, and legal risk management with business goals. This high-impact role requires a leader with deep background screening industry knowledge, strong business acumen, and practical judgment to deliver solutions that support profitable growth and efficient operations. The General Counsel will also oversee the Compliance and Quality Program departments, set and achieve measurable goals, and ensure the company's legal and compliance activities are in line with its mission and values. Applicants must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, active bar membership, and a minimum of 10 years' of relevant legal experience, with a preference for those with significant background screening or consumer reporting industry experience. The role demands exceptional business judgment, commercial acumen, and the ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly. The General Counsel will be expected to lead with integrity, build effective teams, and manage legal, compliance, and quality control budgets. Responsibilities also include providing counsel on a wide range of legal matters, from corporate governance to employment law, and leading litigation strategy to protect the organization's interests. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader, capable of managing outside counsel efficiently, and supporting the company's growth and innovation while ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
