Assistant General Counsel Greater Colby, KS Area

The Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide legal advice and practical guidance on a broad range of legal, regulatory, compliance, and risk management matters. The role includes researching complex issues, advising on institutional policies, reviewing contracts, and supporting responses to litigation, agency inquiries, and other legal proceedings. The successful candidate will collaborate with leadership and departments on compliance and enterprise risk initiatives, develop training resources, and help coordinate outside counsel. The position also involves supporting governance committees, institutional initiatives, and the administration of a legal clerkship program. Candidates must hold a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and have three to five years of relevant legal experience, preferably in higher education, business, or commercial law. Applicants must be licensed to practice law in Maine or committed to obtaining licensure within two years. Strong legal research, analysis, writing, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage competing priorities. Candidates should be collaborative, responsive, and willing to develop expertise in evolving areas of law; proficiency with common office, document management, and legal technology tools is expected.
