Vice President of Research & Development

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Research and Development to lead an engineering team in addressing complex technical challenges and advancing new capabilities. The role includes mentoring and developing the team, setting technical direction, and architecting and deploying scalable solutions. The successful candidate will work with clients and internal partners to translate needs into system designs, prototypes, and demonstrations, and guide development through deployment and ongoing optimization. They will also establish engineering best practices and contribute to the organization’s technical strategy and growth. Candidates should have a master’s degree or PhD in computer science, engineering, physics, or a related field, at least 10 years of industry experience, and at least five years of hands-on research and development experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or autonomy. Five or more years of experience with Java or Python and with government contracting, proposal writing, and contract management are required; military experience is preferred. Strong communication, writing, interpersonal, and collaboration skills are essential, along with proactive leadership and the ability to learn from setbacks.
