Associate Vice President, Legal Counsel

The Company is in search of an AVP Legal Counsel to join their regional legal team, supporting Southeast Asia operations. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted legal advisor, providing commercially focused guidance on a wide range of operational and strategic matters. This includes supporting the structuring, review, and execution of complex business arrangements, leading legal reviews and negotiations for commercial transactions, and partnering with business teams to develop practical solutions that align regulatory requirements with commercial objectives. The role also involves monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, managing external legal advisers, and supporting governance and policy-related processes. Applicants for the AVP Legal Counsel position should have approximately 6-9 years' post-qualification experience within the insurance or financial services sector, with a solid understanding of insurance regulatory frameworks. The role requires proven experience in managing and negotiating complex commercial agreements and high-value transactions, as well as strong commercial acumen to balance legal risks with business objectives. The ideal candidate will have the confidence and maturity to engage directly with senior management and key stakeholders, and be adept at identifying and mitigating emerging legal, regulatory, and reputational risks. Building strong relationships and contributing as a strategic business partner in key decision-making processes is also a key aspect of the role.
