Head of Grid & BESS Engineering

The Company is a prominent player in the renewable energy sector, with a strong focus on solar PV and battery energy storage assets. They are dedicated to the UK's net-zero transition and are expanding their portfolio of grid-connected renewable and flexibility assets. The Company is now in need of a Head of Grid & BESS Engineering to spearhead all engineering activities related to grid connection, power systems, and energy storage across the UK. The successful candidate will be the technical authority for grid and BESS matters, leading the grid connection strategy for utility-scale projects and managing relationships with key stakeholders. This role requires a deep understanding of the UK transmission and distribution network landscape, as well as proven experience in securing grid connections for renewable energy projects. The Head of Grid & BESS Engineering will also be responsible for defining engineering standards, leading technology selection, and ensuring compliance with UK Grid Code requirements. Essential qualifications include a degree in electrical engineering, power systems engineering, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 10 years' experience in the field. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility-scale BESS development, experience in leading engineering teams, and technical expertise in power system analysis, BESS technologies, and renewable energy generation assets. Desirable qualifications include experience within a UK IPP, developer, utility, or consultancy, and knowledge of ancillary services, flexibility markets, and battery optimization.
