General Counsel
Hiring Company
About the Role
Remote (anywhere in United States)
The Company is seeking a General Counsel to lead its legal function in a dynamic and innovative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of legal matters, including commercial contracting, corporate and financing work, litigation finance, regulatory and ethics compliance, privacy and data issues, and outside counsel management. This role is pivotal in a business that operates at the intersection of consumer litigation, structured finance, and legal services regulation, and requires a professional with a deep understanding of these areas. The General Counsel will also be involved in company-side risk management, with a focus on employment, IP, marketing review, and AI governance. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should have 7-15 years' of experience, with a background that includes both top-tier firm and in-house legal work. The role demands a candidate with real transactional and corporate depth, as well as the ability to navigate litigation matters. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a business model that is not strictly defined and be highly curious and driven by a desire for learning and growth. While not mandatory, a bonus would be existing relationships with in-house legal leadership at Fortune 500 companies, experience at a high-growth startup through a priced round, and prior work in debt financing. The General Counsel will be the business's lawyer, with a focus on the legal aspects of the company's operations rather than on running a litigation strategy or managing a case/claimant docket.
