Compay is seeking an experienced C-level manufacturing leader who will partner closely with Company’s CEO and COO to lead a massive scale-up of manufacturing output on an aggressive timetable. The ideal candidate has a technical (engineering) background, is proactive and hands-on, and excels in both strategic planning and driving effective communication between diverse stakeholders. The CMO will oversee our scale up plant in Emeryville and drive efficiency and optimization through automation. This plant will be the model for further scale up plants, so the CMO will be closely involved in selecting and leading design teams for next generation automation for Company. The CMO will be responsible for building and leading a robust production team, along with developing supply chains for key raw materials. Additionally, they will create complex financial models and KPIs to support the CEO in fundraising and guide data-driven organizational growth. Essential Functions - Serve as a business partner to the CEO and COO in aggressively and massively scaling the manufacturing output of the company - Work with customers on forecasting supply and determining best scale-up paths based on customer needs for delivery times - Locate, negotiate for, and secure strategic sources of key raw materials - Develop detailed financial models to determine COGS and other key financial KPIs for a production plant - Work with EPCs to develop strategies for high-margin, low-CapEx, and low-risk plant expansion - Work closely with our existing COO who leads plant construction efforts - Prepare KPIs and other presentation materials for capital formation (fundraising) for project finance, and more importantly help guide scale-up strategy to position the company best for project financeability Qualifications - Has over 15 years experience scaling manufacturing operations, including experience successfully executing essential functions outlined above - Will get your hands dirty: must be an eager "doer" comfortable in a startup environment with limited support staff - Demonstrated success leading quality optimization efforts in production - Experience with planning, building, commissioning, and oversight of manufacturing plant operations is a must, with preference given to experience doing so from a financial operations perspective - Engineering Degree from a top-tier university strongly preferred; MBA a plus
