The Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to provide expert legal advice and support on a wide range of higher education and related matters. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the General Counsel and be responsible for handling contracts, academic issues, employment and labor matters, due process, student affairs including Title IX and conduct, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, real estate, and governance. This role also involves assisting with litigation management, policy development, and risk mitigation to safeguard the institution's interests and promote its academic mission. Applicants must have a Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school, a minimum of six years of legal experience, and be licensed to practice law in Louisiana or have the ability to obtain a limited admission for in-house counsel. The ideal candidate will have a background in representing public entities, experience in higher education, and familiarity with public contracts, leases, and constitutional due process issues. The Assistant General Counsel will be expected to provide general legal guidance to university administration, advise on the interpretation of laws and regulations, and assist with a variety of legal matters to ensure the institution's compliance and protect its interests.
