Vice President of Finance Greater Durham, NC Area

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Finance to lead financial operations and guide long-term financial planning and risk management. Responsibilities include overseeing financial reporting, accounting functions, budgeting, capital planning, cash flow, debt management, and rate analysis. The role also supports funding strategies, loan and grant activities, regulatory compliance, audit readiness, and internal controls. As a member of the executive team, the VP of Finance will advise senior leadership and the Board on financial strategy and oversee shared accounting services. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred. At least 10 years of senior-level accounting experience, including five years of supervisory experience, is required, and a CPA license is strongly preferred. Applicants should bring advanced knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and accounting principles, along with advanced Excel and Power BI skills. Familiarity with utility-sector accounting and finance, multi-state accounting and payroll regulations, and strong communication and presentation skills are also important.
