Managing Director, Head of External Management & Strategic Solutions

The Company is seeking a Managing Director to lead its external management and sub-advisory program, expanding externally managed assets and building the governance, capabilities, and partnerships needed to support portfolio growth and diversification. Responsibilities include overseeing manager searches, due diligence, fee negotiations, agreements, performance monitoring, and investment committee decisions. The role will develop plans for new asset classes, assess investment opportunities with internal partners, and lead strategic relationships with external managers and other executive initiatives. It may also involve leading and developing a team of investment professionals. Candidates must hold a graduate degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field and have at least 15 years of progressively responsible investment experience, including multi-asset-class portfolio management. A strong record of building or scaling external management programs and selecting, negotiating with, and overseeing external managers is required; a CFA designation is strongly preferred. Applicants should understand institutional or insurance general account portfolios, asset-liability management, capital and accounting considerations, and relevant regulatory requirements. The role also calls for strong leadership, negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills, along with familiarity with investment management systems and office software.
