Head of Compliance

The Company is seeking a Head of Compliance to establish and lead the compliance function for its innovative financial infrastructure. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the platform can orchestrate global money movement with the highest standards of compliance, without causing any hesitation from partners, banks, or regulators. The successful candidate will be responsible for building the compliance program from the ground up, with a focus on designing and implementing standards, controls, and tooling that are tailored to the non-custodial, global, and multi-asset nature of the business. This is a first-hire, build role, and the Head of Compliance will work closely with the General Counsel to set the compliance posture, particularly in the areas of sanctions and the crypto side of the business. Applicants for the Head of Compliance position at the company should have a minimum of 8 years' experience in compliance, with a significant background in a leading crypto or DeFi company, a digital asset exchange, or a financial institution with a strong digital assets practice. The role requires a deep understanding of OFAC sanctions as they apply to on-chain activity, direct experience with non-custodial product architectures, and fluency in blockchain analytics and on-chain investigation. The ideal candidate will have a policy mindset, excellent written communication skills, and the ability to work as the first and only compliance hire, with the ambition to build a robust compliance function. Experience in standing up a compliance program from scratch, exposure to money transmission frameworks, and familiarity with fiat payment rails are considered advantageous.
