Vice President, Global GMP Clinical Manufacturing Operations

The Company is seeking a VP, Global GMP Clinical Manufacturing Operations to lead the Medicines Global Clinical Manufacturing Operations function. The successful candidate will be responsible for the on-time scale-up, manufacture, and supply of high-quality, GMP-compliant products for clinical trials. This role is pivotal in ensuring patient safety, clinical data integrity, and the delivery of R&D objectives. The VP will lead a global department of approximately 300 scientists, engineers, process technicians, and manufacturing experts across six sites in four countries. Key responsibilities include driving innovation and modernization in GMP manufacturing operations, overseeing major capital projects, and leading a comprehensive digitalization program. The role also involves close collaboration with senior leaders across various functions to ensure the effective delivery of clinical supply requirements. Candidates for this role at the company should have a Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline, with a PhD being preferred, and at least 10 years of experience in large pharmaceutical or biotechnology, including leading GMP manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cross-modality drug development and manufacturing, experience in highly regulated GMP processes, and a proven track record of leading organizational change and technology deployment initiatives. The role requires a leader who is adept at driving a culture of operational excellence, is inclusive, and can build and lead a diverse, talented workforce. The VP will be expected to have a deep understanding of the interdependencies between manufacturing, quality, regulatory, and technical disciplines, and to be a visionary thinker with the ability to influence and communicate effectively at all levels.
