About the Role
Greater Pittsburgh, PA Area (Hybrid)
The Company is in search of dedicated individuals to join its Board of Directors. Board members, also known as Directors, play a crucial role as ambassadors, providing leadership in the oversight and execution of the organization's strategic plan. This includes actively supporting the mission and vision, which are centered around fostering learning, creativity, and community connections. Directors are expected to share the organization's vision for STEAM education, the Maker movement, and to be committed to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Responsibilities for Directors include attending all Board meetings, participating in at least one committee, and engaging in fundraising and development activities as brand ambassadors. Candidates for the Board of Directors should be prepared to collaborate with other members and staff, and to grow into leadership roles within the organization. Special consideration will be given to those with a strong dedication to diversity, equity, accessibility, and justice practices, as well as those with specific qualifications such as experience in legal and HR expertise, nonprofit accounting and finance, fundraising, and prior nonprofit board experience. The ideal candidate will have connections to the local community and the technology, art, and creative industries. The position is a 3-year term, and Directors are expected to make the organization a philanthropic priority, with a focus on making and/or soliciting annual gifts that reflect this commitment.
