The Company is seeking a General Counsel to lead its Legal Services Division during a significant period of transformation. The successful candidate will be a trusted strategic advisor to the Chief Executive Officer, Executive Leadership Team, and senior leaders, providing expert legal counsel on a wide range of matters, including legal, regulatory, governance, reputational, and enterprise risk. This role is pivotal in ensuring that legal risks are proactively identified, assessed, and managed in alignment with the organization's mandate and strategic priorities. The General Counsel will also be responsible for overseeing the legal team, fostering an inclusive and high-performing environment, and leading the development and execution of legal strategies that support the company's objectives. Applicants must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree, be a member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, and have a minimum of 10 years of legal experience, with at least 7 years in a leadership role. Expertise in administrative law, particularly within a regulated industry, and a strong knowledge of the regulatory environment are essential. The role requires exceptional communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading through change, fostering collaboration, and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
