Executive Director, Metro State Applied Innovation Institute (MSAII)
About the Role
Greater Indianapolis, IN Area
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for its Applied Innovation Institute. The successful candidate will provide executive leadership, work with the Board to set and achieve strategic goals, and ensure the Institute's business model and financial systems are sustainable and aligned with the mission of building the research enterprise. This role involves close collaboration with the Chief Innovation and Research Officer, university employees, and external stakeholders to develop and manage the Institute's operating model, including revenue-generating programs. The Executive Director will also be responsible for external partnerships, client relationship management, and supporting the Institute's activities in areas such as cybersecurity, AI, and other cutting-edge technologies. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company's Applied Innovation Institute should have a Master's degree and a minimum of 4 years' leadership experience in business development, sponsored projects, nonprofit, or research administration. A Doctoral degree and additional qualifications in business, public administration, or related fields are preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of collaboration with external organizations, experience in financial management, and a strong understanding of the academic and research landscape. Familiarity with the local innovation ecosystems in cybersecurity, AI, and related fields is also desirable. The role requires a strategic thinker who can position the Institute as a leader in applied innovation and workforce development.
