Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities

The Company is seeking a Dean to lead its Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities and help shape its future direction. Working with the Faculty Board, the Dean holds overall responsibility for education, research, knowledge valorization, and operational management, while providing leadership to department heads. The role includes developing the faculty’s strategic agenda, strengthening collaboration across its schools, and building a shared identity that respects disciplinary diversity. The Dean will foster an open and safe academic community, engage staff and students in dialogue, guide the development of academic programs and research, and contribute to institutional strategy and external representation. Candidates should be established researchers with an outstanding record in education, interdisciplinary research, and knowledge valorization, sufficient to merit appointment as a professor. Extensive senior management experience with organizational, budget, and personnel responsibilities is required, preferably in a complex academic setting and during a period of development or change. Applicants should understand the breadth of the disciplines and bring experience with participatory governance, employee representation, and academic-sector engagement. The role calls for an approachable yet decisive leader with strong financial and business acumen, sound judgment, and the ability to build trust and inspire a shared vision. Excellent spoken and written Dutch and English are required.
