Head of Artificial Intelligence

The Company is seeking a Head of Artificial Intelligence to lead its AI adoption and deployment strategy in a safety-critical engineering environment. The role will define and deliver an AI roadmap, prioritise initiatives with measurable impact, and scale AI solutions across engineering and business workflows. Responsibilities include establishing governance for responsible AI, security, traceability, safety, risk, and regulatory compliance, as well as driving adoption through training and change management. The Head of AI will monitor performance metrics, advise senior leadership, and engage with external research and industry stakeholders. Candidates should have an MSc, PhD, or equivalent professional experience in computer science, AI, machine learning, software or systems engineering, or a related field. They need a proven record of taking AI solutions from design through production and scale, with demonstrable business impact, and hands-on knowledge of generative AI, large language models, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, and AI-assisted software engineering. Experience integrating AI into engineering-intensive workflows and delivering capabilities in a regulated industry is required. Strong communication, stakeholder-management, prioritisation, and independent problem-solving skills are essential.
