Head of Construction, Value Add

The Company is seeking a Head of Construction to join their team. The successful candidate will be the internal construction lead, with a primary focus on the renovation and repositioning of existing assets, as well as supporting development opportunities. This role is pivotal in the construction strategy and execution across the portfolio, and the Head of Construction will work closely with the investment team on both acquisitions and active projects. Responsibilities include leading construction due diligence, identifying capex requirements and potential risks, overseeing projects to ensure they are on schedule and within budget, and managing a range of external partners. The role is highly visible and requires a professional with a strong background in construction and project management, particularly in the context of renovations and capital improvement programs. Applicants for the Head of Construction position at the company should have 12-20+ years' of experience in construction and project management, with a background in a developer, owner, or owner's rep platform. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in overseeing renovations and capital improvement programs, particularly in multifamily, student housing, self-storage, or similar asset classes. The role demands the ability to manage multiple projects across different markets, a strong understanding of construction budgeting, scheduling, and contractor management, and the ability to work in a lean, entrepreneurial investment environment. The Head of Construction will also be responsible for providing regular project updates, implementing consistent project tracking and reporting, and assisting in value engineering and cost optimization where appropriate.
