Special Counsel, Civil Litigation

The Company is seeking a Special Counsel, Civil Litigation, to independently manage a civil defense caseload from initial evaluation through resolution. Responsibilities include developing case strategy, serving as a primary client contact, and handling discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, arbitration, and trial. The role also involves drafting complex motions, briefs, and case evaluations; providing practical, business-focused advice; and contributing to the growth of the litigation practice. Candidates must hold a J.D. from an accredited law school and an active North Carolina law license, with at least five years of civil litigation experience; complex defense matters are preferred. Strong courtroom advocacy, legal research, writing, analytical, communication, client relationship, and organizational skills are required. Applicants should be able to collaborate effectively while managing matters independently. Experience in construction, products liability, professional liability, premises liability, or commercial litigation is preferred.
