General Counsel

The Company is in search of a General Counsel to join its dynamic team. The successful candidate will be a strategic legal advisor, helping to identify and execute the legal pathways that support the organization's ambitious scientific and institutional goals. This role demands a commercially sharp, highly proactive lawyer with a strong background in corporate, transactional, technology transfer, engineering, life sciences, or related legal work. The General Counsel will lead legal strategy for complex collaborations, advise on governance, compliance, and risk matters, and oversee legal agreements with various strategic partners. A key aspect of the position is the ability to balance rigorous legal analysis with a strong bias toward action and outcomes, and to manage and develop a small legal team. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should be JD graduates with active membership in the State Bar of California or eligibility to practice as Registered In-House Counsel in California. The ideal candidate will have at least 15 years' of relevant legal experience, including a proven track record of advising senior stakeholders and leading high-stakes negotiations. Experience in innovation-driven environments, particularly in biotech, life sciences, technology, or similar fast-moving sectors, is highly valued. The role requires a leader who is a strong communicator, a trusted peer, and a confident professional, capable of engaging with senior leaders and external counterparties in high-stakes settings. The General Counsel will also be responsible for building and improving legal processes, policies, and frameworks to support the organization's mission.
