Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), College of Engineering Greater Pittsburgh, PA Area

The Company is seeking a Chief Advancement Officer to lead fundraising, alumni engagement, and stewardship for its College of Engineering. The CAO will advise the dean and senior leadership on advancement strategy, identify priorities, and oversee the planning and execution of engagement and fundraising initiatives. Responsibilities include cultivating and stewarding donors, personally managing a portfolio of major gift prospects, and translating academic and research strengths into compelling philanthropic opportunities. The role also involves coordinating with internal advancement teams and external stakeholders, tracking outcomes, managing budgets, and leading a high-performing advancement staff. Candidates should have at least 10 years of progressively responsible advancement or development experience in higher education, including at least five years in a leadership or management role; campaign experience is preferred. They should bring advanced knowledge of major gifts, corporate and foundation giving, and comprehensive campaigns, along with success building relationships with senior academic leaders, volunteers, and donors. Strong staff management, strategic planning, analytical, writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required, as are cultural sensitivity, sound judgment, and a commitment to ethical leadership. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
