Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The Company is seeking an Interim Chief Financial Officer to provide essential executive leadership during a period of transition. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing stability and direction in the finance function, partnering with senior leadership and the board to deliver clear financial insights, and leading the existing team with a hands-on approach. This role demands a highly visible leader who can guide financial strategy, support institutional functions, and improve organizational effectiveness. Key responsibilities include immediate oversight of the finance function, mentoring the team, evaluating and enhancing financial and operational processes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The Interim CFO will also be expected to collaborate across various departments to align financial leadership with the organization's needs and support operational modernization efforts. Applicants for the Interim Chief Financial Officer position at the company should have a minimum of 15 years' of progressive leadership experience in finance, operations, or executive management, with a strong preference for those with a background in higher education, nonprofit, or mission-focused environments. The role requires a candidate with a proven track record of working with CEOs, trustees, or governing boards on strategy and institutional accountability. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial and board reporting, cash flow analysis, and capital management, and be comfortable with a visible, onsite leadership role. Experience in nonprofit accounting and fund accounting principles, particularly within educational institutions or similar organizations, is also highly valued. The Interim CFO must be adept at quickly assessing complex organizational needs and delivering effective leadership with minimal onboarding.
