The Company is seeking a President to lead its next chapter, translating a long-term vision into clear priorities, effective action, and measurable progress. The President will shape institutional strategy, foster excellence in research, education, creative work, and societal impact, and oversee overall performance, resilience, and financial continuity. Responsibilities include anticipating changes in higher education and society, representing the institution nationally and internationally, strengthening partnerships and funding, and building an empowered leadership team. The role also calls for safeguarding academic freedom, supporting shared governance, and cultivating a collaborative, high-performing community. Candidates should hold a doctoral degree or equivalent and demonstrate excellence in academic research, alongside a strong understanding of world-class research and education. Significant leadership experience in a large, complex, multicultural organization—or compelling readiness to lead at this level—is required. The ideal candidate combines strategic and financial judgment with an ethical, consultative, decisive, and empowering leadership style. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, fluency in English, and Finnish and/or Swedish language skills are important; entrepreneurial perspective, technological fluency, and fundraising experience are valued.
