This role is pivotal in ensuring robust governance, statutory compliance, and a strong culture of accountability. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the organization's health, safety, and wellbeing framework, providing expert advice to senior leaders, and driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing health and safety policies, standards, and management systems, as well as leading the investigation and management of significant incidents. Applicants for the Interim Head of Health and Safety position at the company should have significant leadership experience in health and safety management, a strong understanding of relevant legislation and best practices, and a proven track record of developing safety cultures and driving compliance improvements. The role requires the ability to work at pace, balancing strategic oversight with operational delivery, and strong stakeholder management and influencing skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in complex public sector environments, particularly within local government or other large public bodies, and hold relevant professional health and safety qualifications such as a NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent, and Chartered Membership of IOSH or equivalent accreditation.
