About the Role
Greater Ottawa, Canada Area
The Company is in search of an Executive Director to lead its mission of providing greater mobility and independence through professionally trained guide dogs and autism service dogs. The successful candidate will be a purpose and relationship-driven leader, responsible for the development and implementation of a diversified revenue strategy, with a focus on philanthropy and strategic partnerships. This role involves being a visible ambassador, a compelling storyteller, and a relationship builder, connecting the organization's mission with donors, partners, volunteers, and the community. The Executive Director will also work closely with the Board of Directors, ensuring strong governance, and will be accountable for the organization's financial and operational management, including compliance with regulatory standards. Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have senior leadership experience in a not-for-profit, charitable, or mission-driven organization. While a background in guide dogs is not required, experience in the disability, accessibility, or human services sector is an asset. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading diverse fundraising programs, working effectively with Boards of Directors, and managing risk. Key competencies include excellent people management skills, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and strong financial and operational acumen. The role requires a strategic, forward-thinking individual who can foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and inclusivity, and who is committed to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
