Head of Propulsion Systems

The Company is seeking a Head of Propulsion Systems to take on a pivotal role in the development and delivery of propulsion systems for launch vehicles. This hands-on leadership position demands a combination of technical authority and team leadership, with a focus on ensuring the safe, reliable, and timely delivery of the propulsion system in line with the wider launch vehicle program. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the propulsion team, owning the system architecture, requirements, and design baselines, and working closely with systems engineering to align propulsion requirements with the overall launch system. Additionally, the role involves defining the development, testing, verification, and validation strategy, managing TRL maturation, and overseeing the technical aspects of supplier selection and manufacturing processes. Applicants for the Head of Propulsion Systems role at the company should ideally have 7-8 years' engineering experience in propulsion or fluid systems, with a background in space, aerospace, or defense, and at least 2 years' experience in a leadership or management capacity. A degree in engineering, preferably with a specialization in propulsion systems, fluid systems, or a related discipline, is required. The role demands a strong understanding of space propulsion and the product development lifecycle, as well as experience in taking systems through development, testing, and qualification. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, the ability to make complex technical decisions, and excellent communication skills. The position is on-site in France, and while local candidates are preferred, relocation support is available for those moving to the region.
