Head of Software

The Company is seeking a Head of Software to establish and lead its software organization, owning architecture and hands-on implementation across aircraft software, communications payload control, and ground and mission systems. Responsibilities include building and mentoring the engineering team, setting technical culture and development processes, and delivering systems for mission control, telemetry, command, network orchestration, and operations. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering and operations teams to integrate software with physical systems. The Head of Software will also prototype critical capabilities and mature them into reliable systems. Candidates should have experience architecting and delivering software for complex physical or distributed systems, such as aerospace, robotics, autonomous vehicles, or cloud platforms. They should be able to work across system architecture and detailed implementation, and have a track record of recruiting, leading, and mentoring strong engineering teams. First-principles problem-solving, a bias for action, and experience with real-time or embedded systems, distributed systems, or high-reliability software are valued. The role also calls for the ability to develop early prototypes into robust, long-endurance systems.
