Interim Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)

The Company is seeking an Interim Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer to lead nursing practice and patient care across the health system. Responsibilities include setting nursing strategy, developing care delivery models and policies, and aligning nursing operations with organizational goals and professional standards. The CNO will advance evidence-based practice, quality improvement, patient safety, workforce development, and a high-performing, inclusive nursing culture. The role also involves collaborating with clinical and operational leaders, representing nursing in system-wide decision-making, and monitoring nursing quality, safety, and patient experience outcomes. Candidates must hold a master’s degree, with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing; a Doctor of Nursing Practice is preferred. An active registered nurse license in Virginia and at least five years of progressive nursing leadership experience are required, while specialty certification is desirable. Applicants should have experience advancing nursing practice, quality, and workforce initiatives, along with active participation in professional organizations. A master’s degree in business or a related field is also desirable.
