Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering

The Company is seeking a Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering to provide strategic leadership while advancing the department’s research and teaching. The role includes recruiting and retaining outstanding faculty and students, strengthening industry and cross-disciplinary partnerships, and supporting faculty innovation and translational work. The Head will foster an inclusive, collaborative community, expand external support, and enhance the department’s reputation and academic programs. They will also mentor junior faculty and establish a compelling vision for the department’s future. Candidates must hold an earned doctorate in mechanical engineering or a related field and have a scholarly record meriting appointment as a tenured full professor. They should bring recognized leadership in mechanical engineering, a distinguished national and international reputation in research and education, and experience leading within a complex research environment or relevant professional organizations. Excellent communication skills, a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, and demonstrated success in academic administration are required; fundraising experience is preferred.
