Vice President of Engineering

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead and scale its engineering organization. Responsibilities include developing engineering leaders, building and retaining a high-performing workforce, shaping team culture, and establishing clear communication and accountability. The role partners with product leadership to support predictable delivery, balance priorities and capacity, and set performance metrics and operating practices. In collaboration with technical leadership, the Vice President will improve shared platforms and tools, strengthen documentation and onboarding, and ensure engineering practices meet security, compliance, and reliability requirements. The position also involves coordinating remote teams and partnering across business functions. Candidates should have at least 12 years of software engineering experience, including five or more years leading through managers and three or more years at director level or above. Experience scaling an engineering organization at a small or early-stage company, building hiring processes, developing managers, and leading remote teams across time zones is required. Applicants should bring strong communication skills and hands-on experience with modern software delivery, including cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, CI/CD, and DevSecOps, plus production experience with at least one of Rust, Go, or TypeScript and one of AWS, GCP, or Cloudflare. A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field—or equivalent practical experience—is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Experience with edge deployments, government customers, data or AI/ML platforms, and platform engineering is desirable; an advanced degree is also valued.
