Head of Department, Science & Environmental Studies

The Company is seeking a Head of the Department of Science and Environmental Studies to provide academic leadership and strategic direction in the areas of environment and sustainability. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative programs, courses, and research endeavors in science education, environmental science and management, and sustainable development. This role involves securing competitive external funding, enhancing collaboration with academic and industry partners, and managing and mentoring staff. The Head of Department will also be expected to contribute to teaching, research, and program development at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to participate in university governance and the wider academic community. Applicants for the Head of Department position should have a doctoral degree and a strong research background with a track record of high-impact publications. Teaching experience and a commitment to excellence in teaching are essential, with a preference for those holding Qualified Teacher Status. The ideal candidate will be fluent in English, with knowledge of Cantonese and/or Putonghua, and have an understanding of the educational context in Hong Kong and/or China. International experience and a proactive approach to scholarship and innovation are highly valued.
