Chair, Department of Surgery

The Company is in search of a visionary and accomplished Chairperson for the Department of Surgery. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading a distinguished department, fostering the growth of surgical programs, and expanding access to care. Key responsibilities include building professional and personal credibility with department faculty and leadership, partnering to identify and pursue opportunities for patient access and surgical volume growth, and optimizing faculty recruitment, retention, and development. The role also involves establishing visibility and dialogue with clinical colleagues, particularly referring physicians, and working to enhance the department's academic and research activities. The ideal candidate for the Chairperson position at the company will have an MD, DO, or equivalent, with a strong academic background meriting the rank of Professor or Associate Professor. Board certification by the American Board of Surgery and a license or eligibility for licensure in the state of New York are required. A minimum of 8-10 years' experience in a complex academic medical center, with a proven track record of effective leadership in a surgery department, is essential. The role demands a leader with the ability to recruit, retain, and communicate a vision, as well as demonstrated clinical expertise and a strong academic record, including contributions to medical education and research.
