Head of Recovery

The Company is in search of a Head of Recovery for Africa, a senior banking professional with a proven track record in corporate recoveries, loan restructuring, and distressed asset management. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership in recovery and remedial management activities across multiple African markets. This role involves driving regional recovery strategies, overseeing high-value distressed assets, and leading recovery teams to maximize recoveries while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence. Key responsibilities include developing and executing regional recovery strategies, leading recovery efforts for large non-performing loan portfolios, and managing relationships with key stakeholders to achieve commercially viable recovery outcomes. Candidates for the Head of Recovery position must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, with a Law degree or professional qualification being an added advantage. A minimum of 10 years' experience in recovery, remedial management, special assets, or corporate workouts within a commercial bank is required, along with a strong understanding of credit risk, restructuring, insolvency, and enforcement processes. The role demands fluency in both English and French, experience operating across multiple African jurisdictions, and a willingness to travel. Essential skills include strategic leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution, and a strong knowledge of banking regulations and insolvency laws across Africa. The Head of Recovery will also be expected to demonstrate strong commercial judgment, results orientation, and the ability to lead high-performing teams.
