General Counsel

The Company is seeking a General Counsel to lead its Law Department and oversee all legal affairs for the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department, providing proactive legal counsel and representation to the Mayor, Board of Commissioners, County Administrator, and various boards and authorities. This role involves attending public meetings to offer real-time guidance on legal matters, managing budgets, and aligning risk-mitigation strategies with the organization's priorities. The General Counsel will also be expected to have a strong grasp of municipal government, substantial litigation experience, and expertise in municipal law. Applicants for the General Counsel position at the company should have a Juris Doctorate or Doctor of Laws degree from an accredited institution, with at least 7 years' of legal experience, including a minimum of 4 years' in local government. The role requires an active member of the State Bar of Georgia or the ability to be licensed to practice law in the state. The ideal candidate will demonstrate good judgment, critical thinking, and a commitment to maintaining a modern, responsive law department.
