Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)
About the Role
Remote (anywhere in Australia)
The Company is seeking a Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to take on a pivotal role in the organization. This is not a conventional CISO position; the successful candidate will be responsible for owning the entire enterprise technology stack, with a strong focus on security as an integral part of the infrastructure. The role involves leading and growing three key functions: IT & Security Operations, Cloud Platform Engineering, and GRC. The CISO will be expected to mature security operations, build detection, analytics, orchestration, and response capabilities, and drive investment in security technologies. Additionally, the CISO will be customer zero, using the company's own platform to its full extent and beyond, and will be a key player in the communication of security matters at the executive level. The ideal candidate for this role at the company will have a proven track record of building and operating technology at scale, with a strong foundation in infrastructure and operations. A background in a process-driven environment, such as financial services, and a demonstrated ability to do a lot with a little, particularly in terms of scaling capabilities without heavy resourcing, are essential. The CISO should be genuinely comfortable owning security, applications, and identity together, and have hands-on credibility in the field. Cloud-native experience, particularly with GCP, and a strong understanding of modern security practices such as zero trust access and identity-centric security models, are also key requirements. The role demands a high level of personal drive, the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-growth, remote-first environment, and a commitment to the company's philosophy of using automation before headcount.
