Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The Company is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead its national peak body, which is dedicated to advocating and shaping policy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly in the areas of family violence prevention and legal services. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic, organizational, and operational leadership, as well as being a highly visible and influential advocate. This role involves leading the delivery of the strategic plan, ensuring member priorities inform organizational strategy, and representing the organization with government and other stakeholders. The ideal CEO will be a senior executive with a deep understanding of the social and legal issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and will bring highly developed advocacy, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills. Applicants for the CEO position at the company should be credible and authentic leaders, capable of bringing people together, listening to diverse perspectives, and communicating with influence and cultural authority. The role requires a transparent and collaborative leadership style, as well as the ability to operate across complex political, policy, and stakeholder environments. Experience in working with boards, supporting effective governance, and managing government funding and compliance is essential. The CEO will also be expected to have a strong knowledge and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural practices, and a willingness to travel nationally as required. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a leader who is passionate about driving strategy to achieve justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people impacted by family violence.
