Head of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

The Company is seeking a Head of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) to join their team. The successful candidate will be tasked with the full spectrum of project management, from conception to construction, with a focus on PV and battery storage projects. This role requires a leader who can build and manage a project management department, ensuring the successful execution of demanding solar and storage projects within the defined parameters of time, budget, and quality. The Head of BESS will be responsible for the disciplinary and technical leadership of the project management team, as well as the development and establishment of uniform standards, methods, and processes in project management. Active participation in the further development of economic concepts for storage integration, direct marketing, and flexibility markets is also a key aspect of the role. Applicants for the Head of BESS position at the company should have a completed degree in electrical engineering, energy technology, industrial engineering, or a comparable field, with several years of professional experience in project management for solar, energy, or infrastructure projects. The role demands a candidate with proven leadership experience, sound expertise in photovoltaics, battery storage technology, and electrical engineering infrastructure, and practical experience with AC grid connection and relevant technical and regulatory requirements. Strong organizational skills, proficiency in PM software and ERP systems, and the ability to manage interdisciplinary teams are essential. The ideal candidate will also have a strong understanding of key performance indicators and margin management in project business, as well as experience in building scalable project structures and knowledge of battery storage marketing and load management. Fluency in German is a requirement for this position.
