Head of Finance

The Company is a renowned institution dedicated to plant science, horticulture, conservation, and education. It is now in search of a Head of Finance to play a pivotal role in the organization's development. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and ensuring the delivery of finance, corporate governance, and risk functions that are essential to the institution's mission and long-term sustainability. This includes financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting, as well as overseeing financial systems, controls, and compliance with taxation requirements. The Head of Finance will also be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the delivery of the Corporate Strategy and representing the organization externally on financial matters. Applicants for the Head of Finance position at the company should be qualified accountants with a strong background in financial management within a multi-faceted organization. Experience in working with Scottish Government accounting standards is essential, and a good working knowledge of business risk management and governance principles is required. The role demands a leader with strong influencing and communication skills, the ability to multitask, and a proven track record in managing a finance team. Desirable qualifications include experience in charity finances, VAT, and corporation tax, as well as a background in Scottish public sector procurement standards. The Head of Finance will also be involved in team development and must be prepared to undertake any other duties as requested by the Director of Corporate Services.
