Interim Head of Assurance

The Company is seeking a Head of Assurance to lead the development of a newly established function that is pivotal in driving statutory compliance, governance, and operational excellence across a complex healthcare estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust-wide Estates & Facilities Assurance function meets all statutory, regulatory, and NHS standards. This includes the development and implementation of a comprehensive compliance and assurance strategy, as well as robust governance, audit, and reporting frameworks. The role also involves providing expert leadership on hard services compliance, asset management, health & safety, and engineering assurance across multiple hospital and community sites, and leading compliance performance monitoring, risk management, and assurance reporting to senior stakeholders and executive committees. Applicants for the Head of Assurance position at the company should have significant experience in a senior Estates & Facilities compliance, assurance, or engineering leadership role, with a technical or engineering qualification and a strong knowledge of statutory compliance, NHS estates regulations, HTMs, HBNs, health & safety legislation, and CQC requirements. The role requires a proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage change within complex operational environments, and strong stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills. Experience in healthcare or NHS estates is essential.
