Interim/Fractional Executive Director
About the Role
Greater Pittsburgh, PA Area (Hybrid)
The Company is in search of an Interim/Fractional Executive Director to lead the organization through a period of transition. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the continuity of essential operations, providing clear and professional leadership to staff and volunteers, and ensuring that the Society's critical commitments, particularly in the areas of financial management, fundraising, and community relations, remain on track. This role requires a strategic, hands-on leader with a strong background in nonprofit management, organizational transition, and a deep commitment to the preservation and promotion of local history. The Interim/Fractional Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, staff, and community partners to identify and address immediate and long-term organizational needs, and to prepare for the recruitment and onboarding of a permanent Executive Director. Applicants for the Interim/Fractional Executive Director position at the company should have a Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) in a relevant field, at least 5 years' of experience in nonprofit leadership, and a proven track record in areas such as fundraising, grant development, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate will be adept at working with Boards of Directors, have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be proficient in the use of technology for organizational management and outreach. Key attributes for success in this role include being strategic, collaborative, diplomatic, decisive, organized, and adaptable. The role is part-time, with an anticipated commitment of 15-25 hours per week, and is designed to provide the necessary executive leadership and oversight during a critical phase for the organization.
