About the Role
Greater Raleigh, NC Area (Hybrid)
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its statewide organization with a focus on mental health advocacy, education, and support. The successful candidate will be a seasoned nonprofit leader with a strong commitment to the mission of improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental health conditions. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include organizational leadership, culture, and staff development, as well as fundraising, partnerships, and external leadership. The role demands a leader who can build and strengthen relationships, trust, and alignment across the organization, and who is adept at guiding a transparent and inclusive process that honors the past while moving the organization forward. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management, fundraising, and diversifying revenue, and will be expected to advance the organization's strategic vision, deepen affiliate partnerships, and grow its influence and reach. The Executive Director will also be responsible for governance, finance, and operations, partnering with the Board to establish healthy practices and providing accurate, timely financial and organizational information. A commitment to equity, cultural competence, and ensuring that the experiences of those living with mental health conditions and their families inform organizational decisions is essential. The role requires a leader with exceptional communication, emotional intelligence, and conflict-management skills, who can navigate differing perspectives and is dedicated to the values of the organization. A Bachelor's degree is required, with a Master's degree preferred, and knowledge of the mental health landscape in North Carolina or the ability to learn quickly is a significant advantage.
